There is something so special about saying goodbyes. Don’t get me wrong, it sucks in all different kinds of ways but have you ever thought about why saying goodbye is so hard? Over the past month, I’ve said a lot of different goodbyes which means I’ve had time to reflect on all the different circumstances. Goodbye to my school and home I’ve known for the past 4 years. Goodbye to classmates I’ll probably only see on social media. Goodbye to friends who are also going out and doing super cool things in their own ways. Goodbye to my church home and community I’ve grown my faith in. Goodbye to my family and best friends. But I’m convinced it’s not saying goodbye that is hard. It’s the fact that the relationships you’ve built with someone, or a group is so special, and you get to see the impact it had on you and leaving that is the hard part. But it’s so sweet to be reminded of all the times you have shared and all the memories that are to come. I may or may not be the FOMO queen, so you get the point!
Enough sappiness let’s get to the fun!!
A small team and I arrived in Zambia on Friday June 3rd and have been busy ever since! We left Sunday morning to do our first trip to a new village. On our way out, we stopped at one of the first churches Trail Missions planted, where Pastor Ferguson is the head pastor. We had nshima (nshima is a meal that is very popular in Zambia!) with the congregation before we headed to Nashangu village. Nashangu village is pretty big, with a little over 950 people. However, the spiritual warfare we saw was intense. A couple manifestations were crazy, but we got to heal a lot of people who were bound and gave freedom from demons. A HUGE testimony from our last day in Nashangu, an older man had been blind for over 13 years. He had accepted Jesus into his heart and asked for prayer. So, our team laid hands and prayed over him three times. The first time, still black. So, we prayed again. The second time, it was a little better. Not as dark but couldn’t make out how many white men where in front of him. BUT!!!!!!!! The third time, Jesus healed him! This man was able to SEE! And I mean, he could see CLEARLY! He counted how many children where in the distance, he walked to his house alone for the first time in years and got to see how many white men were praying in front of him. Hallelujah! His testimony is one of the greatest miracles I’ve experienced. Before long, the word had spread about his healing and the village was ecstatic. Something I thought was really cool, there were SO MANY MEN who accepted Jesus into their lives and who truly are going to be such strong leaders in the church we will be planting there. Pastor Ferguson and Pastor Sebo will be pastoring the church until the men of the village have completed bible school that we will put them through. I will be helping Amber with that and it will start in August! This village is on fire for the Lord! We had over 150 people saved from this one village! It was amazing and so is God!
Oh, and we just finished drilling a new water well! Praise the Lord that another village has clean water and that it all went smoothly with no equipment breaking! We are always looking for people to sponsor wells, so please let us know if you are interested!
We just got back from Lusaka last night because we had to pick up my work permit!!! Super stoked! The weather has been beautiful, and I have missed it here so much. I truly feel at home!
Some prayers for moving forward:
- That the congregation of the church in Nashangu would be strong and bold in their faith. They can bring light to the darkness! Keep Pastor Ferguson and Sebo in your prayers as they will be commuting weekly for church + strength and rest!
- Trail Missions is doing incredible things. Please keep all the pastors and workers in your prayers as we are sharing the Gospel and preaching multiple times a week! Along with the well-drilling team!
If you made it this far, thanks for reading. I am truly SO excited to be back and I know that these 4 months are going to fly by. Also, if anyone who is reading is interested in ever coming on a trip, let me know!! We would love to have you :)
