Hey all!!
It has been a good but crazy busy 2 months since my last update!! I thought I would be better at updating, but clearly that has not happened, haha! This was one of our sunsets the other night. SO beautiful reflecting off the river!
To pick things where I left off… we had an amazing Valentine’s Day party at church for everyone at base and invited all couples in the church to join us for a dinner and some fun games for fellowship! We all had a blast! There is too many pictures to post but I made everyone take a picture with my heart sunglasses!
We are still on our same schedule of having 20-25 bible school students with us for the last 2 weeks of every month! We only have 2-3 more sessions with this class of students, which is wild to think about! We (myself included!) graduate in August with a diploma in ministry!
I have been trying to go out to the bush every other weekend when I am able! We have 22 churches/villages that Trail Missions has ministered and started a church in, so my goal is to visit all of them. This picture is of me pounding some grain that the villagers grew! It takes some serious strength and technique. They can all do it one handed, but of course, I can not.
For God’s Glory (our purity high school girl’s ministry) we finally got approval to meet every other Saturday morning at the boarding school to meet with the girls! This is a huge victory because at first the head mistress wasn’t wanting us to come at all. Praise the Lord for that! We are continuing to encourage the girls in purity and in their actions! We also have a bible study we try to do over the phone every week.
Here are some personal updates :)
The African sun hits different than the sun in the states. For someone who doesn’t usually wear sunscreen, or forgets, it has shown its consequences! Since my last redneck sunburn, I got real burnt all over and even peeled on my shins. That was a first for me! It felt like my whole body was on fire lol
There are a lot of big bugs here!!!!!! I’m not super scared of bugs but these suckers are BIG. There’s like giant scorpions, lots of millipedes everywhere, centipedes, praying mantises, and every other bug you can think of! I do have a collection of pictures so here is a few! Not pictured was a dung-beetle that we saw rolling some dung across the rode! I thought that was pretty cool! And, since we are on the topic of animals here is a fun fact about elephants! During rainy season, they all migrate to Botswana to stay out of the rain but after rainy season, they begin to make their way back to Zambia and into our town to drink from the Zambezi river. They have started to make their way back to our side of the woods for the next couple of months! We had a decent rainy season but the water levels are dropping so much already, it is crazy!
I’ve been practicing driving manual and I am starting to get the hang of it! It is a little nerve wracking as I'm trying to drive longer distances but nothing some worship music, prayers and good teachers can't fix!
Life has really been good! I can’t complain about anything! I still do not have my work permit but at this point, I am just trying to work on my patience. I would love to be praying for you all in anyway, so please let me know how I can be!
Last but not least, happy Easter! I hope everyone has had a great weekend!
Thank you all for the support and prayers!!
Love,
Amanda
