Hello everyone! I am trying a new method of sending out newsletters directly to your emails instead of through my website.
As many of you know, I am currently in Cuenca, Ecuador doing missions work. It has been a full two weeks site seeing, ministry, and lots of prayer. My dear friends, the Angulo’s, who I am staying with, have had some health scares as a result of a fungal infection from their recent medical brigade in the jungle. They are both currently in the United States, so I am holding down the fort here in Cuenca! Please join me in interceding on their behalf for protection and healing over Claire, Natalie and the rest of the medical team who was on that brigade. Our God is a healer and I believe they will be healed in no time.
As for ministry, I was able to share a little bit about my testimony, time in Africa, and encourage students at a local Christian high school about being kind to each other and what that looks like from being emersed in 3 different cultures. While sharing, I was asked if I could give an alter call, so I did, and 12 students accepted Jesus into their lives forever! Hallelujah! I was asked to come back to the high school twice a week to do devotionals and continue to lead and encourage these students. I am really looking forward to that and will have pictures to come.
Cuenca is a beautiful city, and I am getting acclimated well! It is hard to believe I only have 2.5 weeks left in this beautiful place, but it has been so cool being in another city serving God and seeing how he is using me in different ways. I’ll try to update in a few weeks but until then, please be praying for Natalie and the Angulo family, provision and protection for me as a missionary, and for the ministry work that I will be doing at the high school. Thank you for all the love, support, and prayers the past 6 months. I can’t wait to see what the next 6 will look like!
Here are some pictures of life so far! :) Oh, I also do not have my US # available while I'm gone, so please feel free to email me or reach out via WhatsApp!
The first picture is me in front/side of the “new cathedral” in downtown Cuenca. It is HUGE and so cool to see.
This is Deanna and me. Deanna grew up as a missionary here in Cuenca and has quickly become family. We went to where they make the locally famous Panama Canal hats and were goofing around!
This is to show how crazy the weather changes here! You almost always carry a raincoat/water proof poncho with you because you can get caught in unexpected rain like I did!
Lastly, is just a fun but dangerous picture. These amazing croissants are $1 each and are about two blocks from Casa de Angulo. I bought them for the boys the day before they left and let me tell you, they taste better than they look!!
Thank you Amanda, it was great spending time with you. You're a very very special lady that the Lord is really using. I pray for your safety and continued work for the Lord. Looking forward to your next letter and if you ever need anything don't hesitate to reach out. In Him, Virgil
